Sadly I don’t have the fanboy feels in me to write another of these 1, 2 or 3 and definitely not this Secret monster which only just beat the previous Girl’s Day beast (and they were just teasers) but that’s probably because I’m not quite enjoying this as much as ‘Hug Me Once’.

‘Don’t Let Your Eyes Wander’ was so good that it was rather painful when it wasn’t promoted, Girl’s Day really felt like Dream Tea had them progressing with that song but I don’t get that from ‘Oh! My God’. I like it and it is a slightly different sound for the girl’s but… I don’t know. Can’t pin it down. I’ve seen a few say it’s a step back but I don’t think it’s quite that bad, I can definitely see me listening to this a lot more than certain other GsD songs.

On the plus side it has all the energy that I’ve come to expect and enjoy in a Girl’s Day song and the toned down dubstep isn’t as abrasive as that featured in other recent K-pop songs. As for the MV, one reason I love Girl’s Day so much is how much fun their MVs are and this is one of the best and a great follow up to ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. While the rest of K-pop is trying to up the dark and serious quota or be as flashy and overtly sexual as possible it’s nice to take a break with the parody and slapstick of Girl’s Day. I’m still waiting for the day they do something more straight up sexy or similar to ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ because… well because Jihae is hot as hell. If they do go sexy eventually I hope it isn’t at the cost of this side of their appeal, if Secret can mix it up so can GsD.

So in summary, very much enjoying the MV, song is getting more addictive with every listen but still not troubling the holy threesome of ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, ‘Don’t Let Your Eyes Wander’ and ‘Hug Me Once’. I really do prefer ‘Telepathy’ over this from new mini too which feels appropriate considering it’s Sojin’s first foray in writing her own song.

That whole bit about me comparing this write up to my previous ones feels a little redundant now as I’ve waffled on a bit. Ah well, I should write more often any way! Finding the urls for those links showed I used to do a lot more with my posts than I do now.

I don’t know, isn’t the only way to get to the amazingness of “Nothing Lasts Forever” by going backwards? Though I don’t see it as moving backwards, I just see it as moving in a different direction. Girl’s Day is one of those groups that I can’t take very seriously, sure the mv was fun and all, but it just makes me see them as a parody group, more than an idol group. They could show their funny side on variety shows and whatnot.

Maybe it’s me, but I preferred them when they were serious, a la “Nothing Lasts Forever”. I extremely enjoy the song though and the energy that they give it. If it was an unknown girl group singing this song, I probably wouldn’t have taken another look at them. I hope Dream Tea releases a dance version.
